One thing that I have really noticed over the last 4 years is that I am capable of performing many tasks that the average girl in her early-20's wouldn't even consider attempting. Choosing to move hundreds of miles away from my parents has really forced me to grow in the area of being self-sufficient and independent.
I have learned the importance of being able to handle the variety of predicaments that litter the adult life. I have learned things like changing a flat tire at night in the rain, replacing a windshield wiper that came off due to excessive ice, hanging pictures, funding numerous car repairs after hunting for the best price and most reliable service provider, installing window coverings, replacing showerheads, cleaning out the entire "under the sink" pipes of the bathroom sink (just because I can fix it doesn't mean that I know what it's called), jumping a dead battery, checking the fuses for my hazard lights, pushing a completely dead car nearly 1/2 mile in 23 inches of snow (with the help of some great friends), navigating the waters of roadside assistance and tow trucks and ultimately learning how to solve problems on my own (just me and Google:))
I love knowing that I can learn how to save money and stress by solving problems on my own.
I will leave you with a challenge--learn to do something new...something that you would usually have someone else do for you!
Peace Out,
Miss Fix-It
